In der Quantenmechanik spricht man über das Unaussprechliche. Wie aber gelingt das in der Schule? Und wieviel müssen Lehrende selbst wissen, um richtig über die Quantenmechanik sprechen zu können? Dieses Lehrbuch ist speziell für Studierende des Lehramts Physik konzipiert und kombiniert einen Hochschulgrundkurs in Quantenmechanik mit didaktischen Hinweisen und konkreten schulischen Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten. Im fachlichen Teil werden die mathematischen Hilfsmittel so sparsam wie möglich eingesetzt, während die Physik in den Vordergrund rückt. Neben den quantenmechanischen Grundlagen werden auch moderne Entwicklungen wie Quantenkryptographie, Quantencomputer und Dekohärenz präsentiert. Im didaktischen Teil werden schulische Herausforderungen diskutiert, eine schulgerechte Sprache vorgestellt und trainiert, sowie konkrete Anregungen zur Unterrichtsgestaltung, zu Unterrichtsmaterialien und Experimenten gegeben. Jedes Kapitel endet mit einer Reihe von Aufgaben zur Vertiefung des Stoffes.

Ulrich Hohenester ist Professor für Theoretische Physik an der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. Über sein Hauptforschungsgebiet, die Nano- und Quantenoptik, hat er ein Lehrbuch verfasst und ist darüber hinaus Autor oder Mitautor von 170 wissenschaftlichen Publikationen. Seit vielen Jahren unterrichtet er einen Kurs zur Quantenmechanik für Studierende des Lehramts Physik, die Unterlagen zu dieser Vorlesung bildeten die Grundlage für das vorliegende Buch.

Klaus Irgang unterrichtet an einem Gymnasium südlich von Graz. An der Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz wirkte er an der Neugestaltung des Lehramts-Curriculums mit und arbeitete die neue "Fachdidaktik Aufbau der Materie" aus, welche seitdem die Fachlehrveranstaltungen rund um Quantenmechanik, Atom-, Kern- und Teilchenphysik sinnvoll ergänzt. Über die Physikolympiade, das Betreuen von Praktikant: innen und verschiedenste andere Aktivitäten ist er stets um einen engen Austausch zwischen Schule und Universität bemüht.
