About The Book

Als M. v. LAUE im Jahre 1912 die ersten Rontgenaufnahmen von Kristallen erhalten hatte, begann ein neuer Absohnitt in der Gesohiohte unserer Erkenntnis vom' Bau des Stoffes und vom Wesen der Rontgenstrahlen. Man wuBte ja damals noch nioht, daB die Rontgenstrahlen wirklioh ihrem Wesen naoh mit den Lichtstrahlen identisoh seien. Auoh die Abstande der Atome in den Kristallen waren nooh nioht bekannt. Beide Probleme fanden duroh den einen Versuch von LAUE die befriedigende, einfaohe und erschopfende Losung, die von del' damp. Iigen Generation schon sehnIichst erwartet worden war. Die seitdem ersohienenen Abhandlungen und Monographieu, in denen die neuen Erkenntnisse dargestellt sind, wurden von Physikern fiir Physiker gesohrieben. Nun haben aber die Fein- strukturuntersuchungen mit Rontgenstrahlen eine breite An- wendung in der Technik gefunden, so daB - iiber den Kreis der Physiker hinaus - das Eindringen in dieses Gebiet flir eine groBe Anzahl von Technikern zur Notwendigkeit geworden ist. Dieses Buch soIl den Leser fiir das Studium der Mono- graphien vorbereiten. Mehr alB bisher werden die gedachten ein- und zweidimensionalen Gitter behandelt, und erst im AnschluB daran wird das dreidimensionale vorgenommen. Die Betrachtung sowohl der AhnIichkeiten als auch der Unterschiede dieser drei Gitterarten erleichtert die Aneignung und das Memorieren der erforderlichen grundlegenden Kenntnisse. Es wird gezeigt, daB man mit geometrischen Konstruktionen nicht nur iibersichtlicher, sondern auch schneller als auf rechnerischem Wege zur Angabe der vorauszusehenden Verteilung von Schwarzungspunkten oder Linien auf einem Schirm oder auf einem photographischen Film kommen kann.
