Der Nichtfachmann erwartet kurzgefa te Grundlagen, der Fa.ch- schüler und Student Einführung und Belehrung auf Grund gesicherter Er- kenntnisse, der höher Geschulte Anregungen; auch soll der Inhalt des Buches möglichst allen Anforderung-en aus der Praxis gerecht werden. Die- ses Ziel ist erstrebt word-en. Wer allerdings die Werke von Schoklitsch über 'Wasserbau und Grundbau kennt, begreift die Schwere des Unterfangens, neben diese eine kurzgefa. te Abhandlung über dasselbe Gebiet, wenn auch in anderem Aufbau zu stellen. Der erste Abschnitt streift theoretische Grundlagen und zeigt ver- schiedene Berechnungsarten, um hinzuweisen, da der Umgang mit N: l.- turbedingtem verschiedener Auffassung unterworfen ist. Der zweite Abschnitt behandelt die Wassermessung. Er ist verhältnis- mä ig umfangreich gehalten, weil unter dem Hinweis auf die Beobachtung hier die einzelnen Arten des Wasservorkommens besprochen werden, was mir besonders wichtig erschien. Im dritten Abschnitt, d-en wasserbaulichen Vorkenntnissen, ist auch Wissen zusammengetragen, das der a.llzu sachliche Betrachter als für den eigentlichen Wasserbau belanglos ablehnen könnte; es wäre aber kurzsichtig, es in einer Einführung zu übergehen. Wohl erstmalig in einem Wasserbau- buch ist ein Abri über Schnee und Lawinen enthalten, weil neuerdings dafür Interesse nicht allein durch die Ausbreitung des Wintersportes, ' son- dern auch infolge des zunehmenden Bauens im Winter im Gebirge besteht.
