Der vorliegende Bericht ist der erste einer Reihe von Publikationen zum Problemkreis "Mecha- nische Eigenschaften von Schweizer Fichtenholz". Er beschreibt die Entwicklung einer Ver- suchseinrichtung zur Zugprüfung von Brettern und Kanthölzern mit baupraktischen Abmes- sungen. Die Arbeiten zum Thema "Mechanische Eigenschaften von Schweizer Fichtenholz" gehen zu- rück auf das Nationale Forschungsprojekt NFP 12 "Holz, erneuerbare Rohstoff-und Energie- quelle". Dass es zu diesen für den Holzbau bedeutenden Untersuchungen kam, ist das Ver- dienst von Kollege Prof. E. Gehri, der die Problematik aufgriff, Herrn R. Steiger mit der Projekt- leitung und Durchführung beauftragte und ihn während den umfangreichen Untersuchungen betreute. Herr Steiger, unterstützt durch die Herren H.P. Arm, P. Hefti und A. zum Wald war für die Ent- wicklung der Prüfeinrichtung verantwortlich. Mit grossem Einsatz hat er auch die Versuche durchgeführt und ausgewertet. Die Abfassung des Berichts erfolgte durch die Herren R. Steiger (Text und Diagramme) und M. Schläfli (Photos und Zeichnungen).
