Ícono como Comunión, "consiste básicamente en notas y observaciones de la fase de dibujo en la pintura de íconos, es figura humana, y en la composición. Mi objetivo principal no era escribir un trabajo académico, sino poner por escrito los pensamientos que vinieron a mí durante mi investigación y estudio de las fuentes bizantinas, los íconos y especialmente los frescos. Es por eso que prefiero conservar el carácter espontáneo y un poco sin pulir del lenguaje hablado, para que estas notas puedan tener algo de esa cualidad que caracteriza lo inmediato".

George Kordis nació en 1956 en Makrirrachi, Phthiótida, Grecia. Estudió Teología en la Escuela de Teología de la Universidad de Atenas y paralelamente se inició en el estudio de pintura bizantina junto al pintor de íconos Simeón Simeou. Obtuvo el Master en Teología en la escuela de Holy Cross de Boston, EE.UU.; al mismo tiempo siguió susestudios en la Escuela de Bellas Artes del Museo de Boston, especialidad en técnicas pictóricas medievales. Continuó sus estudios en Grecia asistiendo a clases de pintura y grabado con Photis Mastichiadi.
