Parece increíble pero ya han pasado 10 años desde el primer ejemplar, de esta aventura, que inicié investigando la ubicación dónde fueron captadas fotografías históricas de la colección Hallen y registrando los cambios ocurridos entre el periodo 1904-1938 y 2008. Esta publicación (2018) incluye las imágenes del 2008 (con mejor resolución y contraste) y actuales. Estas últimas ahora cubren una mayor perspectiva del lugar registrando no sólo el sitio a comparar sino la zona que lo rodea. En esta edición se introducen varios aspectos con la finalidad de mejorar la presente y futura comparación de imágenes entre el Ayer y Hoy. Utilizando herramientas cómo el Sistema de Posicionamiento Global (GPS) y Google Earth, se adiciona una imagen satelital del 2017 y las coordenadas geográficas de latitud y longitud, empleando el Sistema Geodésico Mundial 1984 (WGS84), de la ubicación de la toma fotográfica.Algo que resalta en estos últimos 10 años es la atinada rehabilitación de Panamá Viejo, el crecimiento de los puertos de Rodman y Balboa, la ampliación vehicular a cuatro carriles y área de amarre de yates de lujo en la Calzada de Amador, las fases I, II y III de la Cinta Costera, el Tercer Juego de Esclusas del Canal de Panamá, la rehabilitación y mejoras del Casco Antiguo y alrededores, y otros. Por otro lado, es triste observar el abandono de sitios históricos con un alto valor y atractivo turístico como lo son las edificaciones colindantes al antiguo club de golf de Amador, los miradores y estructuras militares de las islas de Naos, Perico y Flamenco. Además, son más restringidas las vistas panorámicas desde el cerro Ancón debido al crecimiento descontrolado de la cubierta boscosa y, desde hace años, está cerrado el acceso al mirador sur que permite apreciar la Calzada de Amador, islas y entrada al Canal de Panamá.
