Olsen, Karen: - Née à Trois-Rivières de mère acadienne et de père norvégien, K. E. Olsen vit maintenant à Kelowna, en Colombie-Britannique, où les lacs, les forêts et les montagnes lui rappellent ses origines. Comme son héroïne, elle a été nourrie de récits fabuleux dès l'enfance. L'histoire d'Évangeline et les sagas nordiques ont coloré sa vision de l'univers. Ses études et son travail l'ont amenée à voyager. Elle a d'abord enseigné le français au Manitoba, puis en Allemagne, pendant cinq ans. Ensuite, elle a vécu plus de vingt ans en Saskatchewan, où elle a fait connaître le français aux élèves du programme d'immersion. En parallèle, K.E. Olsen augmentait son bagage de compétences en éducation et en administration, à l'Université d'Ottawa. Pédagogue expérimentée, elle a ajouté à sa formation deux années de Beaux-arts à l'Université de Regina. En 2009, son goût des langues l'a incitée à écrire, en anglais, l'histoire d'Osemo The Rainbow Zebra, qu'elle a illustrée également. Cet ouvrage lui a valu une nomination pour les Saskatchewan Book Awards, récompensant le meilleur premier livre pour enfants. Son texte a aussi été remarqué à titre de ressource pédagogique. Élise et Beethoven est son premier roman. Passionnée d'art et de littérature, elle peint dans ses temps libres. Sinon, elle travaille à une nouvelle série pour enfants, mettant en vedette le personnage de Pénélope Petit Pois. Elle fait du ski alpin, adore la mer, faire la cuisine et recevoir des amis.
