Robert Materna, Ph.D. explores how using "Enterprise Servant Leadership" (ESL) principles are a new way of doing business to be the "best of the best." ESL is based on lessons learned from the life and work of James "Micky" Blackwell, former Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Sector president and leader of the F-22 Stealth Fighter. Materna follows Micky's rise through the ranks at one of the world's largest defense contractors, with special emphasis on the design, development, and production of the F-22 Stealth Fighter. He discusses the characteristics of servant leaders, their use of Integrated Product Teams to generate superior products, and Lean Management methodologies including Lean Thinking, Six Sigma, 6S, Kaizen, and TQM. He proposes a transferable Enterprise Servant Leadership Management Model that focuses on management core values, servant leader culture, communication, and leading by example.
