Bachelorarbeit aus dem Jahr 2014 im Fachbereich Archäologie, Note: Sehr gut, Universität Wien (Klassische Archäologie), Veranstaltung: Römisches Tafelgeschirr, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Vorliegende Bachelorarbeit behandelt Entstehung und Verbreitung römischer Tafelgeschirrsupplemente von Republikanischer Zeit bis Ende des ersten Jahrhunderts nach Christus. Der Untersuchungsschwerpunkt liegt dabei auf Feinware (dünnwandige Keramik) sowie früher glasierter Keramik. Aus dem Inhalt: - Forschungsgeschichte - Verbreitungsgebiete und regionale Produktionszentren von römischer Feinware - Herstellung glasierter Ware: Arbeitsabläufe, Glasur und Brandführung Resümee der Arbeit: Bleiglasurkeramik zeigt sich seit ihrer Genese in Mesopotamien am Ende des 3. Jahrtausends vor Chr als sehr langlebig. Obwohl sie im Fundmaterial relativ selten vorkommt, findet man glasierte Ware, die gesamte Antike hindurch, weit verstreut im Mittelmeerraum und auf dem europäischen Festland. Überall, ob in Gallien oder in Töpfereien an der kleinasiatischen Küste, dürfte eine enge Verwandtschaft in Form und Dekor vorliegen. Innerhalb des Tafelgeschirrs scheint der bleiglasierte Skyphos mit Ringhenkel und Daumenplatte ein sehr beliebtes Gefä gewesen zu sein. Den intensiven Ost-West-Austausch von Know-how und Tradition erkennt man am ornamentalen Dekor, der zuweilen Motive des megarischen Bechers aufnimmt. Ebenso ist die Beziehungen zu späthellenistischen Keramiktypen, wie der pergamenischen Applikenkeramik und syrischen Bleiglasurtechniken nahe liegend. An der Idee, dass die Form und Farbgestaltung glasierter Keramik hauptsächlich auf toreutische Bronze- und Silbervorbilder zurückzuführen ist, lässt sich ohne weiteres festhalten. Ebenso plausibel erscheint jedoch genau der umgekehrte Weg, dass man - um Kosten einzusparen - zuerst glasierte Prototypen auf den Markt brachte. Hatten sich diese als Trendsetter erwiesen, zog die Metallfertigung nach.
