Ziel eines Autors ist meistens, dass Entwicklungsaufgaben und die damit einhergehenden Verhaltensweisen so dargestellt werden, wie sie von Kindern und Jugendlichen durchlebt werden. Doch inwiefern kann ein Mensch als Repräsentant für grundsätzliche Phänomene der Adoleszenz geltend gemacht werden? Es erscheint paradox, dass sich der grö te Teil der jugendlichen Leserschaft in Protagonisten aus Kinder- und Jugendliteratur wiederfinden kann. Diese Besonderheit wird mittels verschiedener Konzepte der Entwicklungspsychologie begründet. Unter Berücksichtigung der allgemein bekannten Forschungsergebnisse gelingt es den Entwicklungspsychologen, jugendspezifische Verhaltensweisen sowie Denkstrukturen wissenschaftlich zu begründen. Für diese Arbeit bedeutet dieser Wissenszuwachs eine grundlegende Parallele zwischen Jugendromanen und Entwicklungspsychologischen Modellen. Es stellt sich die Frage, inwiefern einige entwicklungspsychologische Konzepte im Adoleszenzroman umgesetzt werden. Hierfür bedarf es eines beispielhaften Exemplars, welches sich aus dem Jugendroman "Luke und Jon" von Robert Williams ergibt. Zum einen erscheint es verwunderlich, dass der Protagonist trotz seiner Au enseiterolle als Galionsfigur für die typische Jugendlichkeit fungiert. Deswegen sollen die kennzeichnenden Verhaltensweisen der Hauptfigur im Verhältnis zur Adoleszenzzeit ermittelt werden. Zum anderen bieten die klassischen Modelle der Entwicklungspsychologie viel Auslegungsspielraum bezüglich ihrer Richtigkeit. Es soll ein Eindruck vermittelt werden, inwieweit klassische psychologische Modelle das globale Bewusstsein der modernen Welt beeinflussen.
