So wurde denn in fast 2jähriger angestrengter Vorarbeit der Grundplan für das gesamte Werk entworfen und die Anordnung sowie der Umfang der einzelnen aufzunehmenden Artikel festgestellt. Den Gegenstand des auf breitester Basis angelegten Werkes bilden nicht nur die chemische Gro industrie und die Metallhüttenkunde mit ihren maschinellen und apparativen Hilfsmitteln, sondern auch die zahlreichen Grenzgebiete, welche sich mit der stofflichen Veränderung oder der Veredelung der Materie überhaupt befassen. Dem enzyklopädischen Charakter des Werkes entsprechend, mu te die Anordnung des Stoffes alphabetisch sein. Doch schien es im Interesse der Übersichtlichkeit und zur Vermeidung von Wiederholungen zweckmä ig, Gebiete, welche stofflich eng zusammen gehören, auch äu erlich aneinander zu schlie en. Um die Benutzung des Werkes in jeder nur denkbaren Weise zu erleichtern, dienen zur schnelleren Auffindung einer Substanz au er den zahlreichen Hinweisen die jedem Bande beigegebenen sehr ausführlichen Sachregister; den Schlu soll ein Generalregister bilden, welches die ganze Enzyklopädie umfassen wird. Für die Rechtschreibung gilt durchweg die wissenschaftliche Schreibweise nach Jansen.\" [...] Der hier vorliegende dritte Band der \"Enzyklopädie der technischen Chemie\" erläutert von Calciumcyanamid bis Druckerei und ist mit über 240 historischen Abbildungen illustriert. Der Verlag der Wissenschaften verlegt historische Literatur bekannter und unbekannter wissenschaftlicher Autoren. Dem interessierten Leser werden so teilweise längst nicht mehr verlegte Werke wieder zugängig gemacht. Das vorliegende Buch ist ein unveränderter Nachdruck der historischen Originalausgabe der zweiten neu bearbeiteten Auflage von 1929.
