Aus Schiiden an gewissen Bauwerken kann auch eine Gefiihrdung der Umwelt entstehen. Die Si- cherheitsanspriiche der Gesellschaft nehmen laufend zu. Diese und weitere Griinde fiihren dazu, dass auch in Regionen mit miissiger Seismizitiit vermehrt Vorkehrun- gen gegen Personen-und Sachschiiden infolge von Erdbeben zu treffen sind. Das vorliegende Buch behandelt fiir Stahlbetonhochbauten die Erdbebenbemes- sung von Rahmensystemen, Tragwandsystemen und Gemischten Tragsystemen so- wie von Fundationen fiir volle und beschriinkte Duktilitiit. Grosses Gewicht wird sowohl auf die eigentliche Bemessung, d.h. auf die Ermitt- lung der Schnittkriifte und der Beton-und Bewehrungsquerschnitte, als auch auf die konstruktive Durchbildung gelegt. Grundlage dazu ist die rationale Festlegung der Erdbebenkriifte, basierend auf einem elastischen Bemessungsantwortspektrum, in Verbindung mit einer zweckmiissig gewiihlten Duktilitiit. Ais grundlegende Methode fiir die Konzeption, Bemessung und konstruktive Durchbildung der Tragwerke wird die Kapazitiitsbemessung verwendet. Sie kann wie folgt umschrieben werden: In einem Tragwerk werden die plastifizierenden Bereiche bewusst gewiihlt, so bemessen und konstruktiv durchgebildet, dass sie geniigend duktil sind. Die iibrigen Bereiche werden mit einem hoheren Tragwiderstand (Kapazitiit) als die plastifizierenden Bereiche versehen, damit sie immer elastisch blei- ben. Dadurch wird sichergestellt, dass die gewiihlten Mechanismen auch bei grossen Tragwerkverformungen zur Energiedissipation unveriindert erhalten bleiben.
