Man entledigt sich so der Probleme; sie wer- den nicht aufgenommen. Es ist aber die Aufgabe der Erkenntnislehre, die Grundlagenforschung bis zu den letzten Grundlagen vorwartszutrei- ben und diese klarzustellen. Das Buch ist konzentriert geschrieben, vielleicht zu konzentriert, um gut lesbar und ohne Schwierigkeit verstandlich zu sein. 1m Plauderton der englischen Sprachanalytiker wiirde es mehrere Bande fiillen. So muB man beim Lesen auch auf das einzelne achten und nicht dariiber hinweg- gehen. lch habe mich sehr um Klarheit und Prazision bemiiht und eine bilderreiche Sprache in Metaphern, wie sie in der gegenwartigen deut- schen Philosophie grassiert, vollstandig vermieden. Darum ist die Sprache des Buches niichtern und unpersonlich - wie es sich in der Wissenschaft geziemt4. Aber ich habe auf die Form der Diktion geachtet und sie nicht in dem unvollkommenen Zustand einer sorglosen Formulierung der Gedanken belassen, wie es ofter geschieht. Um das Grundsatzliche heraus- zuheben, habe ich jedem der groBen thematischen Abschnitte eine Zu- sammenfassung seines Inhaltes angefiigt. lch darf aber auch einen Mangel des Buches nicht verschweigen.
