This book covers all aspects of estimating and classifying reserves of crude oil, natural gas, and condensate attributed to primary recovery mechanisms. Both deterministic and probabilistic procedures are discussed. Reserves definitions for many of the major producing countries are provided, including a comparison of the US Securities and Exchange Commission and Society of Petroleum Engineers-World Petroleum Congress reserves definitions. Case histories illustrate reasons for errors in reserves estimation. Correlation charts and empirical equations to estimate pressure/volume/temperature properties of reservoir fluids are provided in one of several special appendices.

Cronquist, Chapman: - Chapman Cronquist is a registered Professional Engineer in Texas with over 40 years of oil and gas reservoir engineering experience, both domestic and international, and in both operations and research. During 1985-1987, he chaired an SPE Task Force on Reserves Definitions and was an SPE Distinguished Lecturer on Reserves Definitions during 1987-1988. He was elected a Distinguished Member of SPE in 1988. Chap has written papers and/or made presentations on waterflooding, PVT behavior, improved oil recovery, gas reservoir performance, basic and advanced reservoir engineering, probabilistic methods, and reserves estimation. He has a BS in geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Inst. and an MS in petroleum and natural gas engineering from Pennsylvania State U.
