Porquê analisar a oralidade e seus valores subsequentes? A carga de oralidade que impregna O Regresso do Morto é um facto inegável. Disso é elucidativa a riqueza linguística da obra. De facto, notam-se diferentes maneiras de escrever, de falar, de pensar. Estes aspectos enquadram as estratégias de escrita do autor que parece priorizar o domínio oral. Uma vez que o escritor utiliza o português e a língua ronga nos seus contos, vai ser importante verificar como se efectuam as interferências linguísticas e textuais, examinar igualmente o registo léxico-semântico. Pela dinâmica do texto, analisaremos o motivo pelo qual a preocupação estética de Suleiman Cassamo recai sobre a escolha de uma escrita falada. Dada a ocorrência elevada de nomes ronga, e tendo em conta o papel desempenhado pela onomástica na marcação de uma especificidade etnocultural, entre outros, observaremos o funcionamento do nome de algumas personagens. As análises feitas permitem-nos afirmar que no plano linguístico as interferências da língua e da cultura são quase necessárias. O problema não é simplesmente o da transposição de uma língua oral para uma língua escrita, envolve também a visão global da obra, a ideia da literatura em Moçambique, a questão da comunicação e da interculturalidade. A passagem das realidades orais para a escrita em português faz-se sem atritos, o português impregna-se da sensibilidade africana. Pela língua que utiliza, o autor mostra estar consciente da mutação linguística que ocorre em Moçambique. Mesmo se o livro está marcado culturalmente por "efeitos" da língua ronga e da língua portuguesa falada localmente, o texto é legível para todos os leitores de língua portuguesa.
HERCULANO ÓSCAR FILEMÃO MOISÉS THUMBO was born in the then City of Lourenço Marques, now Maputo. He is a journalist since 1986 at Televisão de Moçambique (TVM), the public television of Mozambique, having a wide experience in communication, television, press and radio. For several years, he has been practicing urban and rural journalism, becoming profoundly aware of the reality of the population and regions of Mozambique. He has worked as a correspondent in Mozambique for foreign agencies, magazines and radios and has also reported from several countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa. He was Director of Programs, having held various managerial and leadership positions, namely, Head of the International Desk, Deputy Editorial Director for Programs, Deputy Head of the Newsroom, Head of the Newsroom, Deputy Director of Information, Central Coordinator of the Provincial Television Centers and Coordinator of the Training Center at TVM. He holds a Master's Degree in Romanic Studies, specializing in Comparative Oral Traditions, and has a Bachelor of Modern Literature from the University of Poitiers in France. He is a university professor of Journalism, Legislation and Ethics of Communication and Notions of Law. He graduated in Law at Eduardo Mondlane University, and is currently a trainee lawyer. It is a sworn translator in Portuguese-French-Portuguese.
