L'impression que la d�raison domine d�sormais les hommes accable chacun d'entre nous. Que la rationalisation qui caract�rise les soci�t�s industrielles conduise � la r�gression de la raison (comme b�tise ou comme folie), ce n'est pas une question nouvelle: Theodor Adorno et Max Horkheimer nous en avertissaient d�j� en 1944 - au moment o� Karl Polanyi publiait La Grande Transformation.
Cette question a cependant �t� abandonn�e, tandis qu'au tournant des ann�es 1980, la rationalisation de toute activit�, rapport�e au seul crit�re de la performance, �tait syst�matiquement et aveugl�ment orchestr�e par la r�volution conservatrice - imposant le r�gne de la b�tise et de l'incurie.
Tout en mettant en �vidence les limites de la philosophie qui inspirait l'�cole de Francfort, le post-structuralisme laisse aujourd'hui ses h�ritiers d�sarm�s devant ce qui s'impose comme une guerre �conomique plan�taire et extr�mement ravageuse.
Naomi Klein a soutenu que la th�orie et la pratique ultralib�rales inspir�es de Milton Friedman reposaient sur une strat�gie du choc . L' �tat de choc permanent r�gne cependant depuis le d�but de la r�volution industrielle - et plus encore depuis le temps o� s'applique ce que Joseph Schumpeter d�crivit comme une destruction cr�atrice, caract�ristique du mod�le consum�riste.
� partir des ann�es 1980, sous l'impulsion de Ronald Reagan et Margaret Thatcher, l'�tat de choc technologique a �t� suscit� par un marketing plan�taire ne rencontrant plus aucune limite, imposant la prol�tarisation g�n�ralis�e, et d�truisant l'�conomie libidinale: ainsi s'est install� le capitalisme pulsionnel o� la destruction cr�atrice est devenue une destruction du monde.
L'�tat de choc est ce que le post-structuralisme n'aura pas pens�, principalement en raison de deux malentendus: 1. quant au sens de la prol�tarisation (que Marx pense avant tout comme une perte de savoir induite par un choc machinique), 2. quant � la nature de l'�conomie libidinale (au sein de laquelle Freud, � partir de 1920, distingue la libido de la pulsion).
