With this memoir, Keith Watkins has gifted us with a thoughtful and engaging account of his own theological developments over the last seven decades, and in so doing this professor-pastor offers us an autobiographical account that opens out to tell a broader intellectual history of Disciples since the 1950s, especially around the interrelated themes of the Eucharist and Christian unity. This theological memoir will be of interest not only to those who study Disciples history and thought-although it is a must read for them-but those with an interest in the fields of ecumenism, modern American religious history, practical theology, and eucharistic studies will find much to savor in these pages as well.

Watkins, Keith: - KEITH WATKINS is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and for more than thirty years served as professor of worship and practical parish ministry at his alma mater, Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. He earned his doctorate in historical theology at Pacific School of Religion in Berkeley, California. He has been one of his church's primary participants in the liturgical and ecumenical movements that flourished during his most active years. Among his books are Liturgies in a Time When Cities Burn (1969), Faithful and Fair: Transcending Sexist Language in Worship (1981), and The American Church That Might Have Been: A History of the Consultation on Church Union (2014).
