Les recherches scientifiques montrent qu'un grand nombre d'élèves ne bénéficient pas d'une forme d'enseignement apte à exploiter et stimuler au mieux leurs ressources cognitives et scolaires. Les questions d'évaluation et d'intervention sont donc d'importance. D'une part, l'évaluation ne doit pas sous-estimer les compétences réelles de l'élève, et surtout ne doit pas s'arrêter à ce que l'élève n'a pas encore appris mais s'intéresser à ce qu'il peut encore apprendre. D'autre part, les interventions doivent être ciblées et efficaces, afin d'amener chaque élève à exploiter au mieux ses compétences et conduire celui qui en manque à les développer. Cet ouvrage présente un cadre théorique pour l'évaluation de la capacité d'apprentissage et l'intervention métacognitive. Plusieurs études auprès d'élèves d'âges et de niveaux différents et dans des contextes divers sont présentées et discutées: élèves du niveau primaire avec difficultés d'apprentissage, jeunes en formation préprofessionnelle avec déficience intellectuelle, jeunes en formation professionnelle avec difficultés d'apprentissage ou déficience intellectuelle, et élèves scolarisés dans des écoles spéciales (institutions) avec déficience intellectuelle importante.

About The Author

Marco G.P. Hessels est maître d'enseignement et de recherche en éducation spéciale à l'Université de Genève. Il est l'auteur de deux tests d'apprentissage (LEM et HART) et de nombreuses publications sur le thème de l'évaluation et de l'intervention. Il est éditeur associé du Journal of Cognitive Education and Psychology, le journal officiel de l'International Association for Cognitive Education and Psychology (IACEP).
Christine Hessels-Schlatter est chargée d'enseignement en éducation spéciale à l'Université de Genève et coresponsable de l'Atelier d'Apprentissage, un service pour élèves en difficultés d'apprentissage à l'Université de Genève. Elle est co-auteur du Test d'Apprentissage de la Pensée Analogique. Ses publications portent sur l'évaluation et l'intervention auprès de populations à besoins éducatifs spéciaux.
