Launched in 2005, EMRI serves more than 700 million people across seventeen Indian states and territories. Dr. Haseltine explains how, despite limited resources, challenging infrastructure, and a population spread out over one of the largest countries, the government of India in partnership with EMRI created a world-class emergency system that over the past ten years has saved the lives of over two million people in India.

About The Author

William A. Haseltine is chair and president of ACCESS Health International. He has an active career in science, business, and philanthropy and is well known for his pioneering work on cancer, HIV/AIDS, and genomics. He has authored more than two hundred manuscripts in peer reviewed journals and is the author of several books, including Affordable Excellence: The Singapore Healthcare Story, Voices in Dementia Care, and the soon to be published World Class: A Story of Adversity, Transformation, and Success at NYU Langone Health.
