Exmoor Tales is a circular series of four books. You can start anywhere and read through them all or just dip into them from time to time for a flavour of life on Exmoor.

Ellie Keepers began this collection of detailed journal entries as a gift for her grandchildren, but we firmly believe they deserve to be shared to a wider audience, along with her stunning photographs of the landscape and wildlife to be found right on her doorstep.

In this book, Ellie shows us around her Exmoor cottage, takes us to watch rutting deer, brings us on autumn strolls through all weathers, and guides us safely home; all from the comfort of our favourite reading nook.

Keepers, Ellie: - Ellie is the wrong side of sixty (her own words). She is married with two grown-up children, loves to be outdoors, and now lives on Exmoor with her husband. Originally moving to Somerset in 2004, she began writing thoughts about her life on the moor around 2013, a year before her youngest grandson was born. She felt that she needed to start a diary of sorts: in this way all three of her grandchildren would be able to learn what her life was like on Exmoor. Not having that kind of information about her own parents or grandparents, it spurred her on to making a record for them, so that they, too, would fall in love with the place where she lived. Writing from her Exmoor cottage, a cup of lemon-and-ginger tea to hand, together with a slice of homemade cake, Ellie knows that she has come home.
