Willkommen zur 2. Deutsehen Expertensystemtagung in Hamburg! Seit der ersten Tagung 1987 in Ntirnberg haben sich Expertensysteme sowohl in der Industrie als auch in der For- sehung weitgehend etabliert und in verschiedenen Richtungen weiterentwickelt. So kristallisie- ren sich z.B. sehon einige wohlverstandene Problemklassen fUr wissensbasierte Syteme her- aus, fUr die eine weitgehende theoretische und praktische Untersttitzung beim Autbau konkre- ter Systeme moglich ist. Die wachsende Bedeutung reflektiert sich auch in organisatorischen Strukturen. So hat sich innerhalb der Gesellschaft fUr Informatik inzwisehen ein FachausschuB "Expertensysteme" mit z.Z. drei recht aktiven Fachgruppen "Diagnostik und KlassifIkation", "Planen und Konfigu- rieren" und "Knowledge Engineering" etabliert. Da erschien es ganz nattirlich, neben den jiihrlichen Fachgruppen-Workshops eine groBere gemeinsame Konferenz zu veranstalten, die mit benachbarten Gesellschaften abgestimmt wurde: dem Initiator der ersten Experten- systemtagung, dem German Chapter of the ACM, dem VDUVDE-GMA und der GMDS. Insgesamt wurden 44 Fachbeitrage eingereicht und davon 18 Langpapiere und 3 Kurz- papiere angenommen, wobei jeder Beitrag von drei Programmkomiteemitgliedern begutachtet wurde. Weiterhin sind die beiden eingeladenen Vortrage im Tagungsband enthalten. Die Fach- beitrage verteilen sich auf die Kategorien: Diagnostik (4), Konfigurieren (4), Wissens- akquisition (4), Anwendungen (5), Ubersicht tiber Anwendungsgebiete (2), und Techniken (2), wobei die Aufteilung in die Kategorien teilweise etwas willktirlich ist, da die meisten Beitrage einen Anwendungsbezug haben. Insgesamt zeigt sich, was auch in anderen Unter- suchungen tiber Expertensysteme zum Ausdruck kommt, daB Diagnostik und Konfigurieren die z.Z. erfolgreichsten Problemklassen sind.
