Renfro, Ed: - Illustrator Ed Renfro (1924-2012) served as a pilot in Europe during World War II . He used post-war education funding to obtain an art degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, and worked as a freelance illustrator in first San Francisco and then New York. His work included Explorers Who Got Lost (Diane Dreher) and The City Witch & the Country Witch (Jay Williams). In addition to children's books, Renfro illustrated music albums and advertisements.

Sansevere-Dreher, Diane: - Diane Sansevere-Dreher received her B.A. in Communications from New York University. She has worked in public relations as a marketing consultant in the book, audio and video industries. She is the author of numerous articles published in magazines, including Billboard, Sight and Sound Marketing and Software News. Ms. Sansevere-Dreher is also the author of three juvenile biographies in the Changing Our World series (Bantam Books): Barbara Bush, Benazir Bhutto, and Stephen Biko. She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband and four children.
