Der Autor Zu spät, könnte man sagen? Was ist zu spät, wann ist etwas zu spät im Leben eines Menschen? Wer will sich hinstellen, dies zu behaupten? Menschen leben ihr Leben, jeder, wie er es für richtig hält - nein, das stimmt so auch nicht. Dies zu verstehen jedoch, bedarf eines langen Lebens. Der Beginn der Beschäftigung damit und Beschreibung dessen, was Leben ausmacht, was Erfahrung bedeutet, ist zu jedem beliebigen Zeitpunkt im Leben gerechtfertigt. Jeder beginnt da oder dann, wo oder wann er es für geeignet hält, manchmal nie, manchmal mehrmals. So ist das mit uns Menschen. Eines vereint uns alle: Wir haben ein Bedürfnis, uns mitzuteilen, und sei es nur, um uns besser zu verstehen, uns überhaupt zu begreifen. Wenn dieser Wunsch nicht wäre, diese (Sehn-) Sucht nach Erkenntnis, wir wären arm, sehr arm, denn Entwicklung ist nur möglich, weil Menschen verstehen wollen, weil sie darüber unbedingt kommunizieren müssen. Diese wenigen Sätze fassen völlig ausreichend zusammen, was ich mein Selbstverständnis nenne. Der Rest ist Geschehen von gestern, das zu den Äußerlichkeiten eines "Werdegangs" gehört. Jeder Mensch hinterlässt Spuren, irgendwie, irgendwo. Wen meine berufliche Vergangenheit interessiert, dem empfehle ich, sich bei LinkedIn zu informieren. Nach meiner Geburt im Dezember 1949 in einer Stadt nördlich von Hamburg, begaben sich meine Eltern auf den Weg nach Hessen, wo ich 1968 die Hochschulreife erwarb und an der Universität Marburg/Lahn das Studium der Fächer Biologie und Chemie aufnahm. Intensiv erlebte 12 Jahre später promovierte ich im Fach Biologie, machte mich samt Familie auf den Weg nach Hamburg, wo ich nach knapp drei Jahren als Hochschulassistent meine Akademikerlaufbahn beendete. Die anschließenden 35 Jahre brachte ich damit zu, deutschen, britischen, holländischen und spanischen Unternehmen in gestaltenden Funktionen und Positionen anzugehören, mich für andere verantwortlich zu fühlen und schließlich im Frühjahr 2015 mein neues Leben als Ruheständler zu beginnen. Neugier und Leidenschaft haben mein Leben bisher beherrscht und werden die Ursache für meine Einmischungen bleiben. Ich habe eingesehen, dass ich nicht anders kann, als aufzuschreiben, was mich bewegt.
