Dieses Buch verfolgt das Ziel, Studierende bestmöglich auf die Festigkeitslehre-Klausur vorzubereiten. Eine zentrale Rolle spielt dabei das in den Statik Verständnisaufgaben eingeführte didaktische Konzept: Die Theorie wird nicht einfach nur erklärt, sondern in Form von Aufgaben präsentiert. Bei Herleitungen ist der Lösungsweg einschlie lich der erforderlichen Skizzen vorgegeben, um den Blick auf die wichtigen Details lenken zu können. Übungsaufgaben werden variiert, bei Bedarf in Teilaufgaben zerlegt und zu Beginn eines neuen Themas mit vielen Hinweisen versehen. Abgerundet werden die Verständnisaufgaben durch Kontrollfragen zu grundlegenden Prinzipien, Konventionen und Fachbegriffen. Neben ausführlichen Lösungen, die in der Regel über die reine Beantwortung der Frage hinausgehen und auf die kommenden Themen vorbereiten sollen, gibt es ein eigenes Kapitel mit Lösungshinweisen. Wer nicht von allein auf den Lösungsansatz kommt, der muss nicht in der Lösung spicken, sondern kann sich zunächst die ein oder andere Anregung geben lassen.

Ergänzt werden die Verständnisaufgaben durch zwei Formelsammlungen. Der Inhalt der Lern-Formelsammlung kann als das kleine Einmaleins der Festigkeitslehre angesehen werden und muss spätestens bei der Prüfung abrufbereit sein. Anspruchsvollere Formeln finden sich in der Klausur-Formelsammlung, ein klassisches Nachschlagewerk, das in dieser und ähnlicher Form bei vielen Prüfungen zum Einsatz kommt.
