Fernandes, Caraciolo J.: - Dr. Caraciolo Fernandes is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics with Baylor College of Medicine and Attending Neonatologist at Texas Children's Hospital since 1998, and the Medical Director for Texas Children's Hospital's Kangaroo Crew Neonatal Transport since 2008. He has authored or co-authored a number of book chapters and peer-review publications on a variety of topics in neonatology. With an avid interest in Quality Improvement, Dr. Fernandes attended the Intermountain Healthcare Advanced Training Program in Health Care Delivery in Salt Lake City, Utah in 2008, and is actively involved in a variety of quality improvement initiatives at Texas Children's Hospital related to the transport and care of critically ill neonates. He served on the AAP Section of Transport Medicine Executive Committee.
Meyer, Keith: - Dr. Keith Meyer is the Medical Director of Nicklaus Children's LifeFlight(c) Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Services in Miami, Florida. With over 20 years of experience in Pediatric Critical Care and Transport Medicine, he has dedicated his career to improving the care of critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients during transport.
Dr. Meyer has been an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Section on Transport Medicine (SOTM) since 2006, serving on the executive committee and as Chairperson from 2014 to 2018. His contributions include developing resources and guidelines that have shaped the practice of transport medicine.
An accomplished author and editor, Dr. Meyer has contributed to five medical textbook publications, including the creation of the McGraw Hill Last Minute Medical Board Review series (2004). He also served as the inaugural editor of the AAP's Field Guide for Air and Ground Transport of Neonatal and Pediatric Patients (2019).
Dr. Meyer continues to focus on advancing education, clinical care, and safety in neonatal and pediatric transport medicine.
Schwartz, Hamilton P.: - Dr. Hamilton Schwartz is Medical Director of the Emergency Department and Critical Care Transport Team at Cincinnati Children's. He is a member of the AAP Section on Transport Medicine and an Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr. Schwartz is also co-founder of the international medical transport quality improvement collaborative, Ground Air Medical qUality Transport Quality Improvement Collaborative (GAMUT).
