Traylen, Maryanne Grant: - Dr Maryanne Grant Traylen is a scholar of the work of William Blake and C.G. Jung, looking particularly at traditions such as Platonism, Gnosticism or alchemy that informed them both, as well as comparing the coming together of their opposites. She was founding editor of Transitions, a series of four annual journals, and Stella Maris, 'Marion themes explored', for the Society of Psychotherapy and Healing, as well as writer of articles and book reviews concerning the unification of science with religion for local and national newspapers.Publisher and freelance editor she is now a writer living in Folkestone, southeast Kent, England, with the sea and Downs right on her doorstep.. She has scoured its shores and countryside on walks with her dog most days for the last thirteen years. So she knows it, one might say, like the back of her hand, and indeed has seen the eastern ring of the North Downs Way as a healing Jungian mandala, uniting the arc that stretches through Canterbury to Dover in the north with the other stretching through the Folkestone Downs to Dover in the south. In a personal touching of the landscape. Author of" A Dog on the Downs" and "Ring of Downs" her other publications include "Climbing Sea", "Sure Line Poems", "Sea Saw Sea" and "Twenty Stories" all inspired by where she lives. As well as having taken literary tours for Pavement Pounders Community Interest Company in London, bringing the streets to life through its artists and writers who lived there, and assisting in the recording Folkestone's oral histories, she is Geopark Ambassador for Kent Downs National Landscape. Her walks concentrate on a geopoetics where landscape inspires language. In that the hills and coasts provide inspirational possibilities and reflections for writing prose and poetry her focus is on the Blakean slant of upholding matter as alive with spirit. She has two further books in the pipeline. Light of Land and Ways with Waters.
