Andreas Dewald ist Dozent an der Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Seine Promotion schloss er dort 2012 mit seiner Dissertation "Formalisierung digitaler Spuren und ihre Einbettung in die Forensische Informatik" ab. Er betreute den ersten deutschen Master-Studiengang in digitaler Forensik. Für seine Diplomarbeit "Detection and Prevention of Malicious Websites" erhielt er 2010 den Wissenschaftspreis der Gesellschaft für Datenschutz und Datensicherheit.
