Für diese drei inhaltlichen Schwerpunkte wurde jeweils eine einfohrende Darstellung mit Quellentexten für ein vertiefendes Studium erarbeitet, die hiermit als dreibändiges Werk vorgestellt wird. 2. Die vorliegenden Einführungen basieren auf einem konflikttheoretischen Ansatz. Konflikte werden verstanden als ubiquitäre soziale Erscheinungen, die erst einmal weder gut noch schlecht sind. Konflikte beruhen auf Unter- schieden in den sozialen Lagen der Menschen und/oder auf Unterschieden in den Interessenkonstellationen. Ein Problem dieses Ansatzes besteht in der Breite des Gegenstandsbereichs, der bewaffnete Auseinandersetzungen zwi- schen Staaten und Staatenbündnissen ebenso beinhaltet wie soziale, ökono- mische und politische -Konfliktlagen regionaler oder globaler Art. Bearbeitet wird diese Schwierigkeit durch die Entwicklung einer Konfliktsystematik, die dem Untersuchungsfeld eine Struktur gibt. Der Bezugspunkt der Frie- densforschung im engeren Sinne, nämlich organisierte militärische Gewalt zwischen politischen Einheiten, bildet einen sehr wichtigen Gegenstand der Betrachtung, aber eben nur einen unter mehreren. In diesem Sinne beabsich- tigen wir eine Einführung in die Friedens-und Konfliktforschung. Bei einem Verständnis von Friedensforschung im engeren Sinne sind die Probleme der Gegenstandsabgrenzung allerdings kaum geringer. Besteht Frieden vor allem in der Garantie der Existenzerhaltung und Existenz- entfaltung, dann mu sich Existenzentfaltung überwiegend auf soziale und ökonomische Lebensbedingungen beziehen, die beim eigenen Ansatz von vornherein im Konfliktbegriff enthalten sind.
