Die Idee für dieses Thema entstand durch persönliche Erfahrungen und durch den Austausch mit anderen Studenten. Studentenstädte sind bekannt für ihr blühendes Nachtleben, das sich aber vornehmlich auf die Vorlesungszeit beschränkt. Nachdem ich selbst schon im Wohnheim und in zwei Wohngemeinschaften (WGs) gelebt habe, konnte ich unterschiedliche Auswirkungen auf mein eigens Sozialleben bemerken. Im Wohnheim musste ich aktiv vor die Tür gehen, um in Interaktion mit anderen Menschen zu treten. Hingegen ist in meiner aktuellen WG oft so viel geboten, dass ich mich weniger an öffentliche Orte begeben muss. Diese Beobachtung an mir selbst hat mich neugierig gemacht. Mich hat nicht nur interessiert, ob es Zusammenhänge zwischen der Wohnform und dem Sozialleben von Studenten gibt, sondern auch, wie andere Studenten wohnen und welche Erfahrungen sie zu verbuchen haben. Vor dieser Studie hatte ich immer das Gefühl, dass viele Studenten in Eichstätt nur wegen des Studiums wohnen und, sobald das Wochenende beginnt oder die Ferien anfangen, wieder ihre Koffer packen und in rasender Geschwindigkeit abreisen. Sie sind noch nicht hier angekommen, leben nicht in ihren Wohnungen und fühlen sich nicht heimatlich. Andere wiederum gehören zum Eichstätter Leben wie der Dom im Zentrum. Sie haben schon vor langer Zeit begonnen hier zu leben und nicht nur zu wohnen. Der Werbeslogan "Wohnst du noch oder lebst du schon!" bekommt hier eine neue und treffende Bedeutung. Das eine Lager der Studentenschaft lebt in Eichstätt und fühlt sich hier verwurzelt, der andere Teil wohnt hier nur, solange es nötig ist. Eichstätt ist auch meine neue Wahlheimat.
