About The Book

Der Ausgangspunkt meiner Fragestellung sind empirische Ergebnisse aus ei- ner Studie tiber Entwicklungsprozesse erwerbsloser weiblicher Jugendlieher mit Hauptschulbildung (Diezinger u. a. 1983). Sie zeigten als Erwerbslose eine starke berufliche Orientierung, die durch okonomische Notwendigkeit begrtindet, aber auch durch einen deutlichen Bezug auf individuelle, inhaltli- che Interessen an fachlichen und sozialen Kompetenzen und an einem eigen- standigen Lebensstil gekennzeiehnet war. In der antizipatorischen Auseinan- dersetzung mit der privaten Lebensgestaltung unabhangig von den Eltem tiberwog fiir die nachste Zukunft der Wunsch nach "individueller Entwick- lung" und "individuellem Lebensstil". Das schloB Beziehungen mit Mannem keineswegs aus, sondem bedeutete einen groBeren Anspruch der Madchen auf Selbstandigkeit und individuelle Anerkennung in einer Beziehung (Diezinger 1983). Diese Ergebnisse: die Betonung beruflicher Erfahrungen als wichtigen Teil der personlichen Entwicklung und der materiellen Existenzsicherung, der Wunsch nach Anerkennung ihrer individuellen Interessen in Beziehungen und die Vorstellung, die eigene Zukunft nieht ausschlieBlich im Rahmen von "Familie" zu entwerfen, wurden durch Ergebnisse repriisentativer Studien ge- stiitzt (Brigitte/DlI 1982; Jugendwerk d. Deutschen Shell 1981). Wir inter- pretierten sie als Zeichen daftir, daB sieh gesellschaftliehe Individualisie- rungsprozesse, d. h. die partielle Entkoppelung der individuellen Lebens- planung und -fUhrung von normativen Lebensmodellen und sozialen Lagen, auch fiir Madchen durchsetzen, die nicht von der Bildungsexpansion profi- tiert hatten. Willlrend wir die These von der Individualisierung jugendlicher (Fuchs 1983) bzw. weiblicher (Beck-Gemsheim 1983) Lebensentwiirfe so- weit durchaus teilten, waren wir in bezug auf die Interpretation dieses Sach- verhalts eher skeptischer.
