This book contains 80 poems and 8 miniature children's books, composed and created by the AP Calculus BC students at Concordia International School Shanghai in Dr. Daisy Zhang-Negrerie's class during the year of 2014-15. At the peak of their understanding, the students unleashed their creativity and pushed the boundaries of their imaginations as they reflected on the essence of each calculus concept, finding new connections, constructing new metaphors, and exploring unconventional forms to communicate their knowledge, insight, and discovery.

Dr. Daisy Zhang-Negrerie received her bachelor's degree in mathematics from Calvin College, and Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of Chicago. After being a university professor for 15 years, during which she received tenure, multiple awards for teaching excellence, and the Fulbright Scholar Award, Dr. Zhang-Negrerie switched her main research effort to education in the areas of teaching methodology and curriculum development. She decided to implement what she believed should be taught as well as how it should be taught in a high school setting. Currently, Dr. Zhang-Negrerie teaches at Concordia International School Shanghai. There, she developed special classes such as "Origami & Math", "Learn to Design", and an AP Calculus curriculum incorporating interdisciplinary exercises namely poetry, design, and art. Dr. Zhang-Negrerie is a contributing author in the new book by Yong Zhao, "Counting What Counts: Reframing Education Outcomes". She has also published over 70 journal papers and is a contributing author in more than 10 editorial books in the fields of organic synthesis and quantum mechanical computations. She is a visiting professor at Tianjin University and remains active in these areas of research.
