Dieses Buch richtet sich an Leser, die sich mit den Praxisproblemen der Führung ehrenamtlicher Mitarbeiter auseinandersetzen möchten. Personal ist das wertvollste "Gut" eines Unternehmens bzw. einer Organisation. Es muss durch eine umfangreiche Planung entwickelt, gepflegt, gesichert und motiviert werden. Dieses ist von besonderer Bedeutung bei ehrenamtlichem Personal, das unentgeltlich arbeitet, und somit nicht oder wenig über materielle Anreize motiviert werden kann. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit soll nun versucht werden geeignete bzw. weniger geeignete Instrumente aufzuzeigen, die Personalverantwortliche zur Führung ehrenamtlicher Mitarbeiter nutzen können. Im Hauptteil werden verschiedene Führungsinstrumente erklärt, die bei hauptamtlich Tätigen Anwendung finden, und versucht, deren Tauglichkeit im Ehrenamt zu prüfen. Dabei wird besonders mit fünf von zehn Kategorien nach Fehlau gearbeitet. Au erdem wird die praktische Anwendung von Führungsinstrumenten im Ehrenamt am Beispiel des Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. in Wallenhorst dargestellt.

Lars Meyer, M.A., wurde 1978 in Georgsmarienhütte bei Osnabrück geboren. Seit seinem siebzehnten Lebensjahr war er ehrenamtlich beim Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V. tätig. Im Jahr 1999 gründete er mit seinem Vater den Ortsverein der Malteser in Wallenhorst. Mit zwanzig Jahren, nach dem Tod seines Vaters, übernahm der studierte Dipl. Sozialpädagoge/-arbeiter die Führung der Ortsgruppe und baute diese ständig weiter aus. Schließlich stellte der Autor seine Erfahrungen aus Beruf und Ehrenamt durch das Masterstudium Sozialmanagement auf ein tragfähiges Fundament. Ein besonderes Interesse am Thema dieses Buches entwickelte der Autor während seiner Zeit im Malteser Hilfsdienst e.V.
