Geistlicher Missbrauch kommt in vielen Kirchen und Werken vor. Das belegen zahlreiche Berichte von Betroffenen. Er findet inmitten eines geistlichen Umfelds statt und wird meist dadurch so schwer durchschaubar, weil er "fromm" aussieht und "im Namen Gottes" ausgelebt wird. Doch offiziell wird dieses heikle Thema kaum angesprochen. Diese Arbeit zeigt auf, wie die Formen von geistlichem Missbrauch erkannt werden und welche Dynamiken dahinter stecken können. Ob dabei eine gewisse Vordisposition von Seiten der Opfer besteht, die den Missbrauch begünstigen kann, kommt ebenso zur Sprache, wie das Aufzeigen der Wunden, die der Missbrauch hinterlässt. Zusätzlich zeigt diese Arbeit Wege auf, wie Betroffene nach dem Erlebten Heilung erfahren können und was Menschen, die den Missbrauch - sei es bewusst oder unbewusst - ausüben, vorbeugend dagegen tun können. Diese Arbeit wurde geschrieben um zu helfen, nicht um zu verurteilen - damit Glaube nicht krank macht und ein Leben in Gemeinde und Kirche gelingt. Sie soll herausfordern und ebenso ermutigen genauer hinzusehen. Mit dem Ergebnis, dass Glaube und Gottes Botschaft der Liebe in ein Leben von Freiheit und Eigenverantwortung führen und nicht in Unterdrückung und Abhängigkeit.

Diana Schultz wurde 1977 in Karlsruhe geboren. Ihr Studium der Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit den Schwerpunkten Tourismus, Marketing und Internationales Management schloss die Autorin im Jahre 2003 mit dem akademischen Grad Betriebswirtin (FH) erfolgreich ab. Praktika und Auslandsaufenthalte in USA, Australien, Neuseeland, Spanien und Österreich verhalfen ihr zu internationaler Erfahrung. In ihrem Berufsleben in den Bereich Marketing, Vertrieb, Öffentlichkeitsarbeit und Eventmanagement gewannen Soft Skills und Sozialkompetenzen zunehmend an Bedeutung für sie. Nach einem zweijährigen berufsbegleitenden Studium der Beratungspsychologie absolvierte Diana Schultz 2013 schließlich den Master of Science (MSc) an der Lee University, TN, USA. Im Rahmen ihrer Abschlussarbeit widmete sie sich der Thematik des vorliegenden Buches.
