Die Folgen der Finanzmarktregulierung für das Geschäftsmodell von Genossenschaftsbanken wurden bislang zu wenig erforscht. Aus diesem Grund widmet sich das vorliegende Werk dieser Fragestellung. Dafür wurde eine mehrstufige, umfangreiche empirische Untersuchung durchgeführt. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass das Geschäftsmodell der Kreditgenossenschaften in all seinen Facetten negativ beeinflusst wird. Hierbei sind vor allem die Kosten und Einnahmequellen sowie die Schlüsselaktivitäten am intensivsten betroffen, wodurch der wertschöpfende Teil des Geschäftsmodells stark beeinträchtigt wird. Viele Kreditgenossenschaften beschäftigen sich aktuell zwar mit den Herausforderungen durch die Regulierung, oft existiert aber kein nachhaltiges Lösungskonzept. Die Publikation macht deutlich, welche strategischen Anpassungen des Geschäftsmodells notwendig sind, um die Gefährdungen durch die Finanzmarktregulierung zu vermeiden und die Zukunftsfähigkeit von Kreditgenossenschaften zu sichern.
