Schon aus der Schulmathematik kennt jedermann heutzutage das Symbol der "liegenden 8", Aussagen wie "Limes geht gegen unendlich" und den Ausdruck "n+1". Wie lange die Mathematikgeschichte jedoch gebraucht hat und welche Schwierigkeiten und Auseinandersetzungen zwischen Wissenschaftlern, sowohl auf fachlicher als auch auf persönlicher Ebene, erforderlich waren, um zu diesen mittlerweile als trivial aufgefassten Begrifflichkeiten zu gelangen, wird heutzutage gemeinhin eher unterschätzt. Georg Cantor beschäftigt sich Zeit seines Lebens mit dem Konstrukt der Unendlichkeit, und ist der erste bedeutende Mathematiker, der sich gegen ein seit Jahrhunderten genutztes Konzept wendet. Neben einigen bewundernden Worten bringt dieser Schritt Cantor gro en Widerspruch verschiedener Mathematiker ein, welcher sich auf professioneller Ebene, aber teilweise auch auf persönlicher Ebene, zwischen Cantor und seinen Kollegen ausdrückt. Die Fragestellung dieser Bachelor-Thesis lautet: Wie versteht Georg Cantor die Unendlichkeit, welche Folgen hat seine neue Unendlichkeits-Perspektive in der mathematischen und philosophischen Welt, und welche Reaktionen von Kollegen kommen auf? Hierbei soll beleuchtet werden, wie Cantor auf sein Prinzip der aktualen Unendlichkeit gesto en ist, und wie er seine theologischen Ansichten mit seinen mathematischen Ansichten vereinbaren kann. Au erdem wird untersucht, wie er das Aktualunendliche mathematisch und theologisch begründet. Weiterhin soll erläutert werden, auf welche Arten des Widerstandes Cantor mit seinen Ansichten stö t, und inwiefern ihn dies beruflich oder auch privat belastet. Abschlie end wird untersuch
