Seine damals vielleicht sensa- tionellen Entdeckungen oder Erkenntnisse sind heute doch langst uberholt, sind vergessen, sind "aufgehoben" im mehrfachen Sinne des Wortes: sie sind nicht mehr gultig, sind auGer Kraft gesetzt und sie sind langst auf eine neue, hahere Entwicklungsstufe hin"aufgehoben" worden. Aber niemals geht cias, was zu irgendeiner Zeit einmal gedacht, geschluGfolgert, abstrahiert worden ist, ganzlich verloren. Auch unzureichende, uberholte Kenntnisse sind bis zu einem gewissen Grade in dem neueren und neuen Wissen noch enthalten; sie sind in diesem "aufgehoben" in einem weiteren Sinne des Wortes: sie sind bewahrt, sind erhalten geblieben. Der Erkenntnisfortschritt vollzieht sich ja nichtauf eine solche Weise, daG Altes, Unvoll- standiges, Falsches vallig negiert und neues Wissen an seine Stelle gesetzt wird. Immer werden Teile des alten Erkenntnissystems, wird dessen Anteil an relativer Wahrheit als Baustein fur die Er- richtung eines neuen mit genutzt und geht auf diese Weise nicht verloren.
