Le mercredi 10 d�cembre 1947 � 23h15, le t�l�phone sonne � la gendarmerie de Baug�, gros bourg du Maine-et-Loire situ� � une qua- rantaine de kilom�tres d'Angers: un assassinat vient d'�tre commis au domicile des �poux Leloy, marchands de charbon. Albert, le mari, a �t� retrouv� le cr�ne fendu. D'apr�s Germaine, son �pouse, un individu aurait fait irruption chez eux vers 23 heures, alors qu'Albert �tait d�j� couch� et qu'elle s'affairait � des travaux de couture. L'agresseur aurait violemment frapp� son �poux et l'aurait menac�e avant de la blesser au visage et de s'enfuir avec toutes les �conomies du m�nage. Rapidement, les fonctionnaires constatent des incoh�rences dans les d�clarations de la veuve �plor�e. Interrog�e pendant pr�s de vingt heures, Germaine Leloy finit par craquer: c'est elle qui a massacr� son mari � coups de hache, avec la complicit� de son amant, Raymond Boulissi�re, le jeune commis employ� par le couple.
