Vorwort Zunehmend werden die Arbeitsplatze in unternehmensweite Datenverarbeitungs-, Informations- und Kommunikations- Systemen integriert und die Geschaftsprozesse durch flexible, benutzerangepaBte "Standard-Software" unterstiitzt, die mit der individuellen Datenverarbeitung korrespondiert. Die Software zur Unterstiitzung betrieblicher Geschaftsprozesse, also die Anwendungsprogramme zur Abwicklung der logisti- schen Ablaufe (sowohl qualitativ als auch quantitativ) sowie zur Ergebnisrechnung und -kontrolle im Sinne des Unternehmens- controlling wurde bis vor wenigen Jahren meist von Informatik- abteilungen der Unternehmen selbstentwickelt und gepflegt. Idealtypischerweise wurde und wird dabei eine integrierte Ge- samtlosung fOr samtliche betriebliche Funktionsbereiche auf Ba- sis redundanzfreier Daten angestrebt. Infolgedessen wurden in den Unternehmen in der Vergangen- he it urnfangreiche Informatikabteilungen zur Entwicklung, pflege und zum laufenden Betrieb derartiger DV-Systeme aufgebaut. Der in den letzten Jahren erhohte Kostendruck auf die Unter- nehmen auBert sich jedoch nun u.a. in einem geplanten Dber- gang von GroBrechnern auf vernetzte, dezentrale Systeme (z.B. Client/Server-Systeme unter UNIX) und softwareseitig in einem verstarkten Trend zu Standardanwendungsprogrammen, wie bspw. der betriebswirtschaftlichen Standardlosung "SAP-R/3". Die Beitrage in diesem Sammelband zum Thema "Geschafts- prozeBoptirnierung mit der Standard-Software SAP-R/3" stammen von Praktikern und Hochschullehrern, die durchweg Ober lang- jahrige Erfahrungen im Umgang mit betriebswirtschaftlicher An- wendungssoftware verfugen. Bei der Zusammenstellung der einzelnen Beitrage wurde keinen Wert auf durchgangige inhaltliche Konsistenz gelegt, sondern vielmehr auf die Darstellung einzelner projektspezifischer Er- kenntnisse.
