Die Gesellschait fUr Informatik veranstaltet im Oktober 1990 ihre 20. J ahrest agung. Diese "runde Zahl" ist AnlaB, der Frage nachzugehen, welche Rolle und Bedeutung die von der Informatik entwickelten Methoden fur Anwendungen im weitesten Sinne mittlerweile gewonnen haben. Es ist unstreitig, daB die improvisierenden Anfange der Datenverarbeitungs-Technik abgelost worden sind durch methodisch fundierte Entwurfs- und Konstruktionstechniken, und zwar im gleichen MaBe, wie sich die Informatik von einer Sammeldisziplin verschiedener Ansatze im Bereich der Informa tionsverarbeitung zu einer Systemwissenschaft mit streng formalisierten Fundamenten und einer ausgearbeiteten Methodenlehre entwickelt hat. Naturlich pragen solche Methoden die Systeme, die mit ihnen entwickelt werden und ihrerseits weiter auf das Umfeld einwirken, in dem sie eingesetzt werden. Eine Bestandsaufnahme zu diesem Thema muB demnach die folgenden Aspekte erortern: 1. In welchen Bereichen werden Informatik-Methoden vornehmlich eingesetzt, und mit welchem Erfolg? 2. Wo bestehen Defizite in der Methodenentwicklung, d. h. dominiert nach wie vor pragmatisches DafUrhalten uber systematische Entscheidungsfindung? 3. Wie pragen sich Informatik-Methoden auf die entworfenen Systeme ab; wie beeinfiussen sie das Denken der Entwerfer, und sind diese Einfiiisse samt und sonders wUnschenswert? Das Programm der Tagung versucht, diese Bestandaufnahme exemplarisch an sechs verschiedenen Anwendungsbereichen vorzunehmen, und zwar den folgenden: Simulation technischer Systeme Visualisierung Parallele Rechner Planung und Management Software-Entsorgung Gesellschaitliche Auswirkungen In jedem Bereich sind ein oder mehrere Hauptvortriige vorgesehen, sowie jeweils mindestenseine Sitzung im Hauptprogramm mit eingeladenen Vortragen. Auch die Fachgesprache orientieren sich weitgehend an der thematischen Gliederung der Gesamtveranstaltung."
