Steve J. Mac Banks wurde 1973 in der irischen Botschaft in Kampala, Uganda, geboren und wuchs in verschiedenen Ländern auf unterschiedlichen Kontinenten der Welt auf. Privatlehre, Reisen und Studium in Oxford und Cambridge weiteten seinen Horizont über das Leben seiner Eltern für Regierung und Politik hinaus, ließen ihn seine eigentliche Heimat Irland besser verstehen und lieben. Verschiedene Projekte führten und führen ihn mehrfach nach Deutschland, das er besonders seit zweiter Ehe und Geburt seines Sohnes als zweite Heimat benennt. Sein besonderes Gespür für Natur und Menschen sowie sein Drang, sich anderen mitzuteilen und zu fabulieren, ließen ihn schon während der Botschaftsjahre schreiben. Damals wie heute entstandene Texte zeugen von genauer Recherche, einem offenen Blick für das Wesentliche, ver-bunden mit einer unvoreingenommenen Sichtweise auf die einfache Landbevölkerung Irlands. Steve J. Mac Banks lebt heute mit seiner Familie in Gorey, Wexford, Irland, sowie nahe Berlin, Deutschland.
