Von der Faszination "Information at your fingertips" benebelt neigen viele Nutzer des Internets dazu alles zu glauben was im Netz steht. Der "Gullibility Virus"1 trifft aber anscheinend nicht nur Medienneulinge sondern auch Journalisten und andere Berufsgruppen, die eigentlich den Umgang mit zweifelhaften Informationen gew hnt sein sollten. Das kann nur bedeuten, da erst Evaluierungsrichtlinien ersonnen werden m ssen. Obgleich viel ber Glaubw rdigkeit geschrieben wurde, meist ohne klares Ergebnis, gibt es zu diesem Thema in Verbindung mit dem Medienneuling Internet nur wenig kompetente Literatur. Das Problembewu tsein erw chst hier erst in letzter Zeit. Die gr te Informationsquelle ist das, was das Internet ber sich selbst preisgibt und die Nutzererfahrungen, die man im Austausch mit anderen erhalten kann. Zuerst sei hier die Rede von Glaubw rdigkeit als Medienph nomen im Vergleich zu den Besonderheiten des Medium Internet. Anhand von Beispielen m chte ich dann die Notwendigkeit dieses Themas darlegen. Was man Wissen mu und tun sollte um ein kompetenter Internetnutzer zu sein und mit seiner spezifischen Glaubw rdigkeit umgehen zu k nnen soll im letzten Teil ausgef hrt werden.
