Gleichberechtigung wird von den Mitgliedern als ein Menschenrecht angesehen. Die Frau sei von Anfang an dem Mann gleichgestellt und habe in der "evangelistischen wie sozialen Arbeit Hervorragendes geleistet(.)", so hei t es in einer Selbstdarstellung der Gemeinschaft. Wie sieht es aber in der Wirklichkeit aus? Ist die Frau auf den sozialen Arbeitsbereich der Heilsarmee in den zugeh rigen Sozialwerken beschr nkt oder werden ihr auch Leitungspositionen anvertraut. Ist es m glich, dass sich eine religi se Gemeinschaft konsequent von den Vorstellungen der Gesellschaft, in der sie existiert, losl sen kann? Diese Arbeit m chte versuchen einige dieser Fragestellungen zu beleuchten und gleichzeitig einen Einblick in die Traditionen und Werte der Heilsarmee geben. Welche Rolle dabei die Selbsteinsch tzung der Frauen auch im Hinblick auf die Vorschriften und "Gesetze" der Heilsarmee spielt, ist zentraler Untersuchungsansatz dieser Arbeit.
