Aaron Braxton's multi-faceted career spans the genres of theatre, television, film, and education. As a writer and performer, his critically acclaimed one-person show, DID YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK? (One teacher's journey through the bureaucracy of an urban classroom) garnered several national and international awards including a NAACP Theatre Award and Romanian International Gala Star from Bacau, Romania. Hailing from Roxbury, MA, and growing up in Santa Rosa, California, he currently makes his residence in Los Angeles, CA. A highly sought-after teaching artist and former educator with the Los Angeles Unified School District, he received a BA in Speech Communications from San Diego State University and a MA in Curriculum Writing and Teaching from the University of Southern California. A true renaissance man, he has also authored several books including: DID YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK? IS NOT ENOUGH! (Seven Motivating Principles for the Comprehensive Success of Parents and Their Children), THE HOMEBOY'S GUIDE TO SOUTHERN COOKIN', and JESSE AND THE CATERPILLAR WHO GO ITS WINGS. In addition, Aaron wrote and directed BELAFONTE UNAUTHORIZED, a one-person show about artist/activist Harry Belafonte as well as several historical plays for young adults, articles, essays, webisodes, and screenplays. He has directed numerous one-person shows written by and starring other artist. A talented actor, Aaron has also starred, guest starred or co-starred in many popular television and film projects and has graced the stage in several professional theatre productions. Current projects include THE SUB, a half-hour television adaptation of his one-person show, BROKEN; a dramatic stage play about a damaged woman who accidentally kills her 17-year-old son, and A CONDITION OF FAITH, a screenplay about a pastor so jaded with life, family, and circumstances that he burns down his church.
