Da stellt sich aber die Frage: Was gewinnen wir und was verlieren wir dadurch, dass wir Google erlauben, die Linse zu sein, durch die wir die Welt betrachten? Häufig wird die Idee angesprochen, dass der Verlust der Privatsphäre der Preis ist, den wir für die Handlichkeit des Internets bezahlen müssen. Dahinter steckt sicher ein Fünkchen Wahrheit. Aber die wenigsten von uns sind sich darüber im Klaren, in welchem Ausma wir über das Internet Details über unsere Identität und unser Leben preisgeben. Das vorliegende Buch beleuchtet die Machenschaften von Google und versucht der Frage, was der IT-Riese eigentlich mit unseren Daten anstellt, auf den Grund zu gehen.
Josef Schopf, Bakk. Komm. BA, wurde 1986 in Steyr, Österreich geboren. Seine Faszination für Medien, Sport, Geschichte und neue Technologien führte ihn 2007 nach Salzburg, wo er das Bachelorstudium Kommunikationswissenschaft begann. Sein Zweitstudium Geschichte schloss der Autor mit dem akademischen Grad Bachelor of Arts 2012 mit Auszeichnung ab. Bereits während des Studiums sammelte er vielseitige journalistische Erfahrungen bei diversen österreichischen Medienunternehmen und war darüber hinaus auch in der Abteilung für Medienpolitik und -ökonomie als Mitarbeiter an Universitätsforschungsprojekten beteiligt. Seine Interessen für die politischen Vorgaben an die Medienbranche sowie für die ökonomischen Zwänge des Fernsehmarktes motivierten ihn, sich der Thematik des vorliegenden Buches zu widmen. Derzeit belegt der Autor die beiden Masterstudiengänge Kommunikationswissenschaft und European Union Studies an der Universität Salzburg.
