Is Metaphysics Possible Today? A work of the highest philosophical speculation, this treatise leads us to explore a possible metaphysical inquiry starting from the so-called "involuntary memories" described by the philosopher Henri Bergson, through a method that involves the three temporal dimensions and dreams, the latter interpreted in a way that diverges from Freud's thought.
Closely interwoven with themes of fierce social critique, the Author's thought unfolds in ever-widening spirals toward Aesthetics, with openings to the philosophical as well as poetic legacy of J.L. Borges, while sparing no unprecedentedly harsh attack on the ills of contemporary society. These are identified in the masses' dependence on social media, on the smartphone (the latter lacanianly renamed the "obstructing object"), and on AI chats, held responsible for what is defined as a true "collective stupefaction," to the point of suggesting the replacement of Gramsci's concept of "cultural hegemony" with today's "uncultured hegemony."
How are the two souls of the treatise, the polemical and the theoretical, combined? For the Author, the path to metaphysics is individual, but the masses are not individuals, and since we live in a mass society, metaphysics today is in crisis.
