I never wanted to write this book. Never. Ever.
But here it is-a cry from my heart. A call that quickens my pulse and refuses to be silenced. When everything in my life began to unravel, when the truth about what was happening hit me like a freight train, I did what many do in moments of desperation-I searched for answers. I turned to Amazon, frantically typing phrases like "family addiction stories," "recovery stories," and, perhaps most honestly, "please assure me my life is not over stories."
I was stunned by how little I found. Was it the stigma? The pain of revisiting brokenness? I can tell you from experience that revisiting the hardest moments of your life is no small feat. But whatever the reason, one thing became crystal clear: more recovery stories are desperately needed-especially those that show there is hope.
This book opens a deeply vulnerable chapter in our family's lives-a chapter filled with heartbreak, tears, and moments when we thought the darkness would never lift. Writing it hasn't been easy. I've wrestled with the fear of reopening old wounds, of exposing our struggles for the world to see. But when I cried out to God during a praise and worship service, He spoke clearly to my heart:
"This is not the end. Your story will change lives. Most importantly, it will point others back to Me-the only One who can bring true restoration. What the enemy intended for destruction will become his greatest defeat. You and Scott will walk into places others could not enter. You will step into a world ravaged by lies, death, sickness, and destruction-and bring the Word with hope."
