F unktionentheorie ist, nach heute iiblichem Wortverstandnis, das Wissen iiber Funktionen einer komplexwertigen Veriinderlichen. Dabei wird der bewahrte reelle Differenzierbarkeitsbegriff analog auf Funktionen iibertragen, welche die Ebene oder Teile davon in sich selbst abbilden. Uberraschenderweise fiihrt das zu vollkommen neuen Erkenntnissen, die den gleichermaBen schonsten wie den wohl auch traditionsreichsten Teil der Analysis ausmachen. Das vorliegende Lehrbuch ist aus Vorlesungen entstanden, die ich mehrfach in Wiirzburg und in Oldenburg gehalten habe. Vieles in der vorliegenden Darstellung findet sich auch anderswo so oder zumindest iihnlich, aber sicher nicht alles. Es wurde bewuBt darauf verzichtet, im Text benotigte Grundbausteine der reel len Analysis auszufiihren, wie zum Beispiel den Begriff der totalen Differenzier barkeit. Der Leser mage gegebenenfalls in einem Lehrbuch zur reellen Analysis nachschlagen, etwa in dem von Heuser [6), wo auch Begriffe gefunden werden kannen, deren Kenntnis hier vorausgesetzt ist. Dagegen wird sowohl eine Einfiihrung in die spater benatigten topologischen Grundlagen (Zusammenhang), wie auch eine solche zur Theorie der reellen Kur venintegrale hier explizit gegeben, da diese Dinge in den Einfiihrungsvorlesungen oft nicht oder kaum behandelt werden.
