Aber die physikalischen Grenzen der Integration digitaler Schaltungen sind bereits erkennbar. Die noch wachsende Komplexität ermöglicht dennoch die Entwicklung neuer Leistungsmerkmale auf der Basis von technologieunabhängigen Funktionselementen. Das vorliegende Buch soll die Grundlagen vermitteln, die es erlauben, auf dem derzeitigen Stand der Technik aufsetzend, funktionsspezifische digitale Schaltungen zu entwerfen. In einer relativ umfangreichen Einführung werden die hierfür erforderlichen naturwissenschaftlichen Erkenntnisse und Methoden vermittelt. Damit wird auch demjenigen ermöglicht, sich die mathematischen und physikalischen Voraussetzungen zu erarbeiten, der noch nicht die Grundvorlesung gehört hat, der z. B. noch nicht mit der z-Transformation, dem Abtast- und Codiertheorem vertraut ist oder die grundlegenden Halbleitereffekte, den Feldeffekttransistor und die MOS-Technik noch nicht kennt.
