Die Anregung zu dieser Arbeit erhielt ich bereits vor nahezu zehn Jahren von meinem verehrten, allzu froh verstorbenen Lehrer und Doktorvater, Prof. P. I. BETSCHART, OSB, Direktor des Salzburger Psychologischen Institutes, der mir nicht nur durch wertvolle Hinweise, sondern auch durch seinen Rat und seine menschliche Giite zur Seite stand. Weitere Hilfe fand ich wahrend meiner Tatigkeit am Psycho- logischen Institut der Universitat Miinchen unter Prof. PH. LERSCH, als mir manche experimentelle Untersuchung zu einzelnen verkehrs- psychologischen Fragen, auch in Zusammenarbeit mit Studierenden, ermoglicht wurde. SchlieBlich erhielt die Arbeit maBgebliche Anregung durch meine Tatigkeit bei der psychologisch-medizinischen Unter- suchungsstelle des Technischen Oberwachungs-Vereins Bayern, vor allem durch dessen Leiter, RR a. D. Dr. G. MUNSCH, aber auch durch andere Kollegen, mit denen anlaBlich unserer gemeinsamen gutachter- lichen Tatigkeit verkehrspsychologische Probleme diskutiert wurden. Ihnen allen sei an dieser Stelle herzlicher Dank gesagt. Die Verkehrspsychologie steckt noch weitgehend in den Kinderschuhen.
