Dieser Band schlie13t in der Moeller'schen Lehrbuchreihe "Leitfaden der Elek- trotechnik" an die Darstellung der "Elektrischen Leitung in Festkbrpern" im Abschnitt 2.4 des Teilbandes 113 an. Nachdem dort die physikalischen Grundla- gen der elektrischen Leitungsmechanismen in homogenen Halbleitern und Me- tall en behandelt wurden, wird hier eine Obersicht daruber gegeben, in welch vielfaltiger Weise die elektrischen Eigenschaften von Grenzflachen zwischen Halbleitern entgegengesetzten Leitungstyps bzw. zwischen einem Halbleiter und einem Metall oder zwischen einem Halbleiter und einem Isolator fUr Bauelemen- te der elektrischen Nachrichten- und Energietechnik genutzt werden kbnnen. Neben der Beschreibung des Aufbaus und der Wirkungsweise dieser Bauelemen- te werden auch Hinweise auf Anwendungen gegeben. Auf umfangreiche mathe- matische Darstellungen wird verzichtet; vielmehr wird versucht, durch die Ver- bindung vereinfachter mathematischer Beschreibungen mit anschaulichen Ober- legungen und Analogiebetrachtungen das Verstandnis fUr die Eigenschaften der Bauelemente zu gewinnen. Bei der Auswahl von Bildmaterial aus der Literatur haben didaktische Gesichtspunkte im V ordergrund gestanden. Aus der Vielfalt der Halbleiterbauelemente kann dieses Buch naturlich nur eine Auswahl bieten. Diese erfolgt in der Regel unter dem Gesichtspunkt ihrer tech- nischen Bedeutung; sie soli aber auch zum Ausdruck bringen, in welch vielfalti- ger Weise durch Materialeigenschaften der elektrotechnischen Festkbrperwerk- stoffe Halbleiter, Metalle und Isolatoren bedingte physikalische Effekte und de- ren Zusammenwirken zur Realisierung verschiedenartiger Bauelementefunktio- nen genutzt werden kbnnen.
